Together,the eleven spas represent one item on the world heritage list.The famous European spas, founded near natural mineral springs, together bear an extraordinary testimony of the phenomenon of European spa industry, which flourished from the beginning of the 18th century to the first third of the 20th century. The characteristic feature of this phenomenon is a combination of spa/therapeutic procedures, both in the interior and exterior, with many opportunities for leisure activities, which is also reflected in the specific look of the spas and their architecture. The groups of spa buildings, including bathhouses, spring pavilions, drinking halls or colonnades, are complemented with community houses, casinos, theatres and other cultural facilities, all of which is integrated into a meticulously maintained landscape with mineral springs, parks, gardens, promenades and sports facilities.
